I am a newbie to caring for fish..I have 3 convicts in a 50 gallon tank. I've noticed after 2 weeks they look as though they've been to war...scratches on their sides, the hump on their head is scratched.
I'm wondering if I have enough air flow..or need a slime replacing treatment...Help?

When should you separate the fry from the parents . . . is there a point when they will start eating their babies?

You forgot to mention in the breeding section that if you separate all the males from the females, some females will spontaneously change sex, though the new male sex organs cannot actually make them reproduce. This will, however, cause the remaining females to continue to lay eggs, waiting for the new "male" to fertilize them.
